Hello everyone. I have been a long time member of this site. I am getting this strange message that "your ratio is .64 and if you need to get your ration up to .75 or you will be banned on Feb 12, 2012. I am in Australia and upload speeds are terrible. It is very difficult o maintain the ratio to .75. I thought the rules were that minimum ratio required is .40 not .75 according to the link here: http://www.desi.io/threads/10-ways-to-survive-at-dctorrent.56716/ When did this .75 rule come in? There is no way I can get the ratio up to .75. Can someone please help? Thank you.
Hello everyone. I have been a long time member of this site. I am getting this new message that "your ratio is .65 and if you need to get your ratio up to .75 or you will be banned on Feb 12, 2012. I had always thought that the minimum standard was .65. There is no way I can get the ratio up to .75 even if upload 24/7. Can someone please help? Thank you.
I think it is really unfair to bring in these new rules without getting any warning. I have done nothing wrong for years and yet I am getting banned. I know I can not get to .75 by 12 Feb. 2012 even if I upload 24/7. I am not a hit and run kind of person with torrents. I am currently seeding 132 torrents but I know I still won't get to .75 ratio.
Agree with here2rock, unfair to bring in new rule with any notification. Btw if users cant get your ratio to 0.75 by seeding, they have option of making some donation to purchase upload credit - http://www.desi.io/donations/ This also helps in paying off website's server bills.
I wish I had extra money then donating would not be a problem. Whole world is going through a recession at the moment. I would really hate not being a part of this site anymore. This site has become a part of my life. It has become a routine like reading a newpaper in the morning.
The bigger problem is that even on this newly designed site is there is no reference to the new .75 ratio. So why all of a sudden you get a warning?
Yes, I got a similar message and my ratio is at 0.63. I have been trying to seed but the tracker url points to dctorrent.com which is unreachable. So I am not sure if my ratio would be updated correctly. I am also unable to find the list of all my torrents under my profile. It's currently show 0 torrents for me. Thank you.
I think thats great. If a user is unable to seed back and help the community, he or she might as well donate and help the community and the site. Ultimately, the co-existence of users on this site can only happen with everyone contributing in some way or the other. @Staff : No idea why you folks DELETE posts. I remember The Wall and I posting on this thread stating each one's opinion. Would it be possible to refrain from deleting harmless posts please? I understand "Donot defy the moderator's expressed wishes". I am not defying anything here buts its a mere suggestion. Or, maybe its just me who can't quite comprehend whats harmful and whats harmless. Post not deleted. Original poster made 2 threads.
I think you are missing the point. If you bring in new rules then we should know well in advance I was not advised of the new .75 ratio and it is not stated anywhere on this web site then why give me a warning. I totally agree with you on donating the money but not everyone is in position to do so. Donating should be voluntary not compulsory. I do my best to contribute to the community here.
I made that point in an earlier post saying its tough on users to be given such a short notice after changing the rules significantly. I think I ended that post suggesting 6 months atleast so that everyone is given enough time to correct their ratios. That post got deleted as well as that of one other user "The Wall" which is what I was telling the staff. The user made 2 threads. Post not deleted.
No, it did not got deleted. There is another post here: http://www.desi.io/threads/new-ratio-rules.321856/#post-1755359 It is my fault that I was not sure where to post.
You got no releases, 27 posts and bad ratio in 4+ years. No offence, just wondering how you are doing your best to contribute to this forum.
I am in Australia. Do you know what is the maimum upload speed here is? I can download at 750 KB/s and maximum upload speed is 38 KB/s. In other words my download speed is 19 times quicker than upload speed. There is no way I am going to be able to 1:1 even if I leave it on 24/7. During the day time my torrent are off, I download and upload during 12:00am to 8:00am. How much can you possible upload during this 8 hours time? Over the years my stats show that I have downloaded 879GB and uploaded 567GB. It is a pretty good effort considering my connection. I normally keep all the old torrents going from years ago so I am not hit and run kind of person. I wish I had money to donate. I have always complied with the rules of Desi.io but all of a sudden I get a message saying my efforts are not good enough when I have not broken any rules ever. If I was living in USA my ratio would have been 20:1. I would have not problem uploading and new relesases. I did send an email to admin. staff, they have said that I would be given extra time but I am still getting the same message.
I don't know who told you that donating is COMPULSORY. In my philosophy, if somebody can pay his monthly internet bill, he can surely make a little donation. To keep minimum RATIO, is part of the rules of Desi.io
It is part of the rules. But what here2rock is saying is theres been a steep increase in the minimum ratio and theres less time given for it. Also, theres no mention of the rule anywhere on the site reflecting the new rule.
